ECH RACE REPORT 24 SEPTEMBER 2019.

Lanhydrock 10 mile. Round 3 MTRS Series. Saturday 21st September

Saturday afternoon saw 12 Harriers line up at the start of round 3 of the Cornish MTRS series.

This is a very tough course around the grounds of the Lanhydrock Estate with the course meandering through the grounds and up & down many hills.

Doug Stacey had a brilliant run to finish 3rd overall and 2nd in his MV40 age category in1.07.08.

Second Harrier was Matt Davies 5th in his age category in 1.14.53. Jason Crossman was 3 rd Harrier home in 1.15.27..

Revis Crowle was first lady home in a brilliant 1.18.05, 3rd lady overall and 1st in her FV 55 age group. Shane Caughey had a strong run to finish in 1.19.47. Jenny Nash 1.23 32 was 2 nd lady Harrier and 2nd in her FV55 age group.. Hayley was 2nd in her FV 40 age group in 1.26.14. Amy Williams had a great run to finish in 1.33.48 and complete a winning team performance for the 4 lady Harriers – a very good days work and points recorded towards the overall championship.

Our men's team of Doug Stacey, Matt Davis, Jason Crossman and Shane Caughey scored a very impressive 3rd place in the team event – underlining the point that if we have enough Harriers at the Grand Prix races we can get Podium Places & overall season points. Well done to both teams.

Liz Egginton and Dave Lean 1.48.46 finished in the same time. Jon Sudell 1.52.43 and Emma Dales 1.55.33 completed the Harriers performances.

Saints Way Challenge Sunday 22 September 2019. 28.5 mile Ultra Marathon.

The first running of a new race from St Petrocs Church Padstow to St Fimbarrus Church Fowey on trails & country lanes passing through St Breock downs, Lanivet over Helman Tor and through Lanlivery was a tough event on a stunning course - staged by Purple Gecko Events.

Six Harriers took on the challenge. Oliver Jones and Chris Gilbert came joint first in an amazingly fast time of 4.10 43 and laid down a strong marker for future events – even after taking a slight detour on this self navigating event. Sharon Daw – running closer to home than usual finished in an excellent 5.36.45 and was 1st lady in her FV 50 age group a brilliant result. Nick Page 6.49 09 had a good race to be 1st MV 50. Michael Palmer 6.59.20 with a very brave run was 1st MV 70 a tremendous result. Another very brave determined race from Charlotte Bunt to finish in 8.41.49. An excellent but long days work for the Harriers returning with some excellent trophies.

Killerton Half Marathon Sunday 22 September 2019.Exeter

Darren Harvey made the trip to the lovely National Trust Killerton Estate near Exeter to compete in the Killerton Half Marathon.

The race was run on off road trails on the farm estate mostly never used for racing before in an event promoted by Relish Running. Darren finished in a brilliant 1.38.24 – overall third place and 1st place in his MV 40 age group a very fine performance.

Seenland Marathon Bavaria

Whilst away in Germany on secondment Marc Smerdon celebrated his birthday with a present from his German work mates, an entry to the Seenland Marathon in Bavaria. Mostly set on a route around Lake Brombachsee Marc had a brilliant outing to finish in 5th place overall in 2.52.41. A very well spent birthday indeed.
