EAST CORNWALL HARRIERS RACE REPORT 11 NOVEMBER 2019
Bideford 10 miler
Sunday 3 November was the Bideford 10 miler hosted by Bideford Amateur Athletic Club . The race follows a mostly out and back route mainly on the Tarka Trail with great views of the rivers Taw and Torridge. Simon Webber returning to racing after 4 months of injury, posted a an excellent 72 minures 20 secs and was 2nd Male Vet 60. A very pleasing return for Simon.
Phoenix Remembrance Day Marathon
Down in Surrey was the Phoenix Racing Remembrance Day Marathon – 4 out & back laps along the bank of the River Thames at Walton on Thames.
Sharon Daw made the long trip to compete in her 334 th Marathon and recorded a very fine 4.39.0s
St. Michaels Mount Remembrance Day Run. 10 November 2019
Seven Harriers lined up for the annual St. Michaels Mount remembrance Day Run at Marazion held in front of the Historic St. Michaels Mount. The organisers request that all runners wear Red in memory of the fallen in war. A portion of the entry fee is donated to the Poppy Appeal and Mounts Bay Harriers also award a very fine medal as a tribute to the fallen who are remembered at this vent. The race starts at 11.02 am after a 2 minute silence from all present. The race is a 4 mile run on the beach crossing sand , rocks and a river. This is race number 4 in the MTRS 2019 – 2020 series.
First Harrier home was Doug Stacey in 27.57, 5th overall and 2nd in his MV age group. Ben Harding was 2nd Harrier in 27.57 and 4th in his MV35 age group. Jason Crossman 32.14 was next home and 4th in his MV 40 age group. Shane Caughey 34.23 recorded a fine 34.23. Dave Lean had another resolute run to record 42.17. Leza Wall was 1st lady Harrier in 47.08 just pipping Liz Egginton 47.50.
