Falmouth Mob Match

23 September 2017
Written by: IAN LITTLEWOOD
It''s that time of year again.  No, not another festivity but the annual running of the Falmouth Mob Match on Sunday 26th November, the traditional curtain call of the Cornwall Grand Prix series.  This is a 5-mile road surface team event where every single Harrier, regardless of ability, can affect the scoring.  This really is an event where the more Harries who enter then the greater chance of winning a team prize.  The first eight male and female runners count towards their respective team scores however even if you don''t finish inside the top eight for every runner from another Club that you finish in front of then you could potentially be reducing their teams score, making this a perfect team event.

The Club will pay for your entry fee providing that you a paid member.  There are two cut-off dates for names this year because the race memento is going to be a hoodie and the organisers have requested plenty of time to order the correct sizes.  The cut-off date for guaranteed hoodie size is Tuesday 10th October, names and size to Ian or Louise - contact details on website or reply to email/Facebook.  If you are unsure as to whether you can make it or not before this date then the 2nd cut-off is Tuesday 7th November however there is no guarantee of you receiving the correct size hoodie at the event.  Please note - if you put your name forward and withdraw from the event after the 7th November then the Club will require reimbursement for the race fee.  This is even more important than previous years as there will be no changes to registration details/entries allowed in the two weeks prior to the event.  If you are one of those who have recently commented on last year''''s Facebook post then please re-confirm your entry for this year with your size.

If you are unsure whether to enter then do so and claim a free hoodie just for getting around a 5 mile course which you can all do anyway.  Last year a record 33 Harriers entered making it the largest Club turn out for a race event for a considerable time.  It would be great to see so many of you again this year, even to beat that number.  It was also the first year that the men have won a prize, finishing 2nd in the Division 2 race.  We''re also sure that the women would like to reclaim their winning trophy that had to be surrendered last year.

Following the race is also the presentation for the 2017 Grand Prix series so please come along and support your fellow club members who have qualified for this year''s league.  We look forward to seeing as many as you as possible, Ian & Louise.  PS, don''''t forget to let us know your hoodie size when giving us your name, S,M,L,XL.
