EAST CORNWALL HARRIERS RACE REPORT, 4 February 2018

On Sunday 4 February 2018 765 runners lined up at Newquay Sports Centre for round 2 of the Cornwall Road Running grand Prix Series hosted by Newquay Road Runners. A cold dry morning – almost perfect running conditions ensured this would be another fast paced race.

The circuit heads out of Newquay along the Gannel estuary before turning inland after a mile for a steady climb out into the countryside with a small loop before the runners head back to the Sports Centre for the finish – which has a short uphill section just before the line.

The race was won by Tony Brewer of the Mile high club in 33.35 another very fast time for Tony. First lady was again Emma Stepto of Cornwall AC in 36.27.

Seventeen Harriers started the race and Darren Harvey was first Harrier in 38.33 followed by Chris Ullman in 42.03.

Simon Webber pulled out the stops to be third Harrier in 42.39 and 1st in the MV 60 category.

Ben Harding had a good race to finish in 42.47 just ahead of Revis Crowle , 43.15 1st lady Harrier and 1st in her FV 55 age category.

Joe Kearns another solid performance to come home in 44.13 ahead of 2nd lady Harrier Kaye Patterson 46.02.

Marcus Wills 47.46 edged out Rob Pick 48.04.

Karl Saunders 49.28 worked hard to finish ahead of fast inproving Lyndsey Suanders 53.37..

Dave Lean 54.44 was next home just ahead of Lucy Oldham 57.37. Garry Allen 1.03.04 held off Srah Steed 1.03.17 by only 14 seconds. Sarah Collins & Karen Hockin crossed the line together in 1.11.06 a very good run by both Harriers.
