ECH Go Plogging Thursday 6th September

31 August 2018
Written by: Craig Vaughnley

Not long to go until our FIRST ECH PLOG, we have an idea of a route and I have run parts of the route twice over the last week, there are a few areas that are heavy with litter and a few that are light so we will get some good running in as well as collect some litter. Most of the litter is plastic and we all know what is happening to our ocean and how this is starting to get into food chain.

The plan is to collect litter for approx a mile then swop over, there will be 4 litter pickers at anyone time, the bags are to be left full on junctions for me to collect after the run and put all together at LUX PARK for CCC to collect in the morning.

Safety Checklist.

- Avoid direct contact with the litter

- Be aware of the environement (dont get run over !)

- Do not collect anything hazardous (needles, chemical containers etc)

- Do not pick up dead animals (report to CCC)

- Wash hands after litter pick

- Do not crush the litter with your feet.

- Wear stout footwear (trainers will be fine)

- Do not over fill bags

- Do not confront anyone seen littering

- Do not pick up dog poo

- Only runners with high vis on to collect litter (you all will be issued by one provided by CCC)

Look forward to seeing you on Thursday - this is a TEST run because we are planning to run the Cornish Marathon Route after the Cornish Marathon to cleanse the route after the Marathon.
