Sunday the 4th February 2024 was the annual Newquay 10k race, with 770 competitors taking part.

A cold breeze greeted the runners for a 9am start outside Newquay Sports Centre, with 13 East Cornwall Harriers taking part. The first mile is mainly down hill and past the zoo and makes for a speedy start before you hit a hill just after the mile marker, its then a steady climb easing out to the water station just after 3 miles.

Runners then head back to the Sports Centre finish with a  bit of a climb just before the 6 mile marker. It’s described as an undulating course but does offer the opportunity to record a quick time.

Big thankyou to Newquay Roadrunners who organised the event and the army of volunteer marshals who kept runners safe and on route.

Participants were rewarded with medals and a commemorative shirt.

It was a great effort by the Harriers that completed the Newquay 10k this morning. Chilly wind but good running conditions with a few tough climbs to negotiate.
