It is now just 2 months until the most important day in the East Cornwall Harriers calendar – the Cornish Marathon on SUNDAY 2ND NOVEMBER.
Our race team have been working hard for several months and the race is already well oversubscribed – so a busy day is ensured.
Our event is highly rated by the running community both locally and indeed nationally. However, the day can only be a success if everyone helps out as much as they can.
Hugely important in making it a great day are always the marshals, both out on the course and to help with car parking etc. We need at least 80 Marshals to effectively and safely manage the runners on the day.
Those of you who have helped put before will know it’s a fun and enjoyable way to spend a few hours. The reward will be the thanks from the runners and your club plus a pasty ! There are nearly 40 locations where marshals are needed, with many of them needing a few people to work as a team. Why not get a group of friends to do this and have a fun day together. You can either do an early stint or a later one depending where on the course you are, or you can do both !!
The race will start at 10:00am, and the last runners will finish about 6 hours later at 4:00pm. Obviously the timing of your attendance depends on your location, and most only require your presence for a relatively short time. Full instructions will be given for every marshal position, including timings.
Please let me know as soon as you can that you are available – first come first served for the best places. I will try and place everyone in their preferred location and with friends – but the earlier you let me know the better your chance.
As always it is essential for me to have an email address for sending out updates and the details. A mobile number on the day for the safety of yourself and the runners is also vital – we need to be able to contact you.
