NEWQUAY 10K ROUND 2 CORNWALL GP – Sunday February 6th saw the ever popular Newquay 10k hosted by Newquay Road Runners take place.This race has a very loyal following and is very well organised by our friends at Newquay Road Runners. Best described as down a hill – up a hill – round a loop – down a hill and an uphill sprint to the finish.20 Harriers completed the 6.2 mile course 18 within an hour and 11 within 50 minutes showing that this a very good paced race.First Harrier was Steven Sims in a quick 35.52 m followed by Oliver Jones in 36.19 and 2nd in his MV 40 class. Third Harrier home, Liam Gallantry in 39.23 just edging Dave Philp who posted 41m.50s to be an excellent 1st in his MV 60 age category. Marcus Wills was 5th Harrier in 43m 30 secs.Our long distnance specialist Sharon Daw was first female Harrier home in 44m 7 secs – her fastest time since 2014 and 1st I her FV 55 age category – tremendous run. Kaye Patterson 2nd femalr Harrier finished in 44m 26 s and 2nd in her FV 35 age group – brilliant effort. The ageless Revis Crowle third female Harrier in 46m 13 s and 1st in her FV60 age group – superb as ever.Andrew Sims 46m 55sec headed off Ashley Elliot 49m 22s Our indestructible Club Chairman Rob Pick had a fast run to finish 2nd in his MV 60 category in 49m 55secs. Alison Ohora 52m 42s was next home – ahead of John Brady 54m 58s. Dawn Diprose finished well in 56m 35s just ahead of Karen Sims 58m 43s who pipped the resolute Sarah Steed doing her best to catch Karen – great effort in 59m 17 sec.Judy Gluyas 59m 17sec just headed our superb senior Ray Goodright in 59 56s – both beating the 1 hour mark. Cathhy Willows 1.01.31 was next and Sarah Marsh completed the Harriers team in 1.04.45.Brilliant running from every Harrier and commiseration to Tessa Maso who picked up an ijury at 2 miles – hope you recover quickly.
