Around 18 Harriers braved this fun event in Looe on a really inclement evening.

The Looe Summer Run was just under a 6-mile multi-terrain race which took place on Tuesday, August 1st, 2023, starting and finishing at The Millpool Centre in West Looe, Cornwall. The route followed the beautiful Kilminorth Woods, offering fantastic views and scenery along the way.

The race starts was delayed to 7;15 pm, due to the high tide to allow for water levels to subside, this just seemed to invite the rain to get heavier. Runners headed out along West Looe Riverside before following the upper bridle path to Trelawne Woods for three miles.

Everyone was in good spirits at the start line despite the heavy rain and the race briefing was clear and funny. The field quickly spread out and it wasn’t long before you hit the woods and a steep climb, which was a sign of things to come. It took me back to my youth and although it was tough conditions, wet and muddy it was fun and enjoyable.

Everyone gave it their all and there were lots of good performances regardless of age and ability, a hardy bunch stayed at the finish line clapping all finishers over the line. This is definitely one to look out for again next year.

All finishers receive a memento of the occasion.

The results have now been released and are reproduced below.

There were prizes for the first male and female (Lisa Picton East Cornwall Harriers) overall, and a new team trophy won by East Cornwall Harriers (Ben, Helen, Lisa and Matt) with all profits going to Looe Lions Local Charities.

Lisa Picton, Helen Morse and Asley Elliott being the first three ladies over the line.
